Shadow Of The Comet: Spot The Famous Actors Faces

Picture
Sometimes referred to as Call of Cthulhu: Shadow of the Comet, an adventure game for the PC released by Infogrames in 1993. Heavily influenced by by H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos, the game made many references to the works of Lovecraft. The game uses many elements from Lovecraft's The Dunwich Horror and The Shadow Over Innsmouth (the game is set in the New England town of Illsmouth). The Necronomicon is featured, as well as a character based on Lovecraft himself. The writer, supposedly "lends" his face to the character of Dr. Underwood. (Or does he?!) Although the story-line of the game doesn't follow either of Lovecraft's short-stories, the development team claimed that they inspired the game.

The graphics of the game do a fantastic job of building the creepy atmosphere. While the character sprites are unimpressive, the backgrounds are exquisite, with gorgeous pixel art that, based on real photos, and perfectly emulates the small town feel of a turn-of-the-century American town. Many of the townspeople are portrayed with full-screen portraits of their faces, many (if not all ) of whom are blatantly based on various well known actors and actresses, ranging from Vincent Price to Jack Nicholson, and many others. And there in lies the game of the game. Spotting who all the characters are based on.
Listed below are a series of screen dumps of characters from the game, next to them are images that either directly match, or are close to the images used to create the game character graphics. But we've not yet managed to identify all of them. So, the question is... Can you identify the missing characters? Hopefully we can find the exact matching image. And if possible, which movie or TV show the image has been taken from. The images below are ordered from the closest match, to "we don't have a clue!" Either comment on the social media link you find this on, or contact us via our Contacts page. Let's see if we can get them all. Oh, and if we're missing any of the in-game characters, also let us know. Let the game begin!
